Hot Air Ballooning
A Legacy in the Skies
Founded in 1991 by Eric and Nancy Hesemans and now run by their children Denis and Andreia, Namib Sky Ballooning Safaris was the first outfit to offer hot air ballooning over the Namib Desert. Over three decades, they’ve flown more than 100,000 passengers, maintaining a perfect safety record thanks to certified pilots, a fleet of European-manufactured balloons, and rigorous standards set by the Namibian Civil Aviation Authority and EASA
The Magical Flight Experience
Your journey begins just before dawn, as a vibrant balloon inflates against the growing sunrise. The nearly silent flight lasts about an hour, drifting with the gentle desert winds over towering red dunes, gravel plains, and solitary “fairy circles,” with chances to spot oryx, springboks, and ostriches from above. After landing, participants are treated to an elegant champagne breakfast in the heart of the desert—a true “Out of Africa” moment
