Located approximately 20 km north of Kongola in Namibia’s Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), the Mafwe Living Museum offers a unique and immersive cultural experience. Since its establishment in 2008, in partnership with the Living Culture Foundation Namibia, the museum has served as a living archive of Mafwe heritage and traditional life.

This open-air museum is a window into the authentic lifestyle of the Mafwe community, showcasing how they lived in pre-colonial times. Visitors are guided through the village, where Mafwe men and women share stories, crafts, and daily customs passed down for generations. A local interpreter is always available to translate into English, ensuring you don’t miss a detail.
