Orange River Canoe Tours

If you’re looking for an active and fun holiday in southern Namibia, canoe trips on the Orange River are a great choice. The Orange River is the natural border between Namibia and South Africa, and it's perfect for relaxed water adventures. You can choose from short half-day unguided trips to longer guided tours that last up to seven days.

Canoe Adventures with a Guide on the Orange River

The Orange River is one of the few rivers in Namibia without crocodiles or hippos, making it safe for everyone—even children aged six and up, as well as older adults. Guided tours, offered by Amanzi Trails, use comfortable Mohawk canoes or rubber boats. The trip takes you through quiet, beautiful sections of the river with a few gentle rapids.

As you paddle, you'll pass through scenic gorges, grape farms like Aussenkehr, and the rugged mountains of the Richtersveld. You’ll also see plenty of wildlife—over 100 kinds of birds, otters, monkeys, klipspringers, and more.

All meals are provided by Amanzi Trails—from dinner on arrival day to breakfast on the last day. Coffee and tea are included, but you’ll need to bring your own drinking water (about 4 liters per person per day) and any extra drinks or snacks.
