This exhilarating experience takes you high above the stunning Namib Desert and offers unbeatable views of the Atlantic coastline, golden dunes, and the charming seaside town of Swakopmund. The activity is expertly managed by Ground Rush Adventures, a professional and safety-conscious operator with decades of experience.

Since 1997, Ground Rush Adventures has provided skydiving experiences to visitors from all over the world. With over 130,000 successful tandem jumps and an outstanding safety record, they are Namibia’s go-to provider for skydiving. Whether you're a first-time jumper or a seasoned thrill-seeker, this activity promises a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Choose Your Adventure

No experience? No problem. Tandem skydiving means you're securely harnessed to a professional instructor who handles all the technical aspects of the jump. All you need is the courage to take that leap.

You can select from two jump heights:

  • 10,000 feet (approx. 3,050 meters): Includes about 35 seconds of thrilling free fall.

  • 12,000 feet (approx. 3,650 meters): Extends your free fall to around 45 seconds before the parachute opens.

From the moment you exit the plane to the peaceful descent with the parachute open, the sensation is surreal and breathtaking.

Make It Extra Special – Optional Add-Ons

Ground Rush Adventures offers several extras to personalize your skydive:

  • Professional cameraman to film your experience from the air.

  • Instructor-mounted GoPro for unique, up-close footage.

  • Combo packages including both camera options and a branded souvenir t-shirt.

You’ll receive your video and photos via Dropbox within 24 to 48 hours, perfect for sharing your epic jump with friends and family.

What to Expect: Step-by-Step Itinerary

  1. Pickup or Arrival: You can either be picked up from your accommodation in Swakopmund or drive yourself to the airfield.

  2. Registration & Waiver: Upon arrival, you’ll complete an indemnity form for safety and legal purposes.

  3. Briefing & Gear-Up: A full safety orientation follows, after which you'll be outfitted with a harness and helmet.

  4. Optional Extras: This is the time to confirm any add-ons like video packages or t-shirts.

  5. Meet Your Instructor: You’ll be introduced to your tandem jump partner and review the jump procedure.

  6. Scenic Flight: As the plane climbs to altitude, enjoy a panoramic sightseeing tour over Swakopmund, the Atlantic Ocean, and the surrounding desert.

  7. The Jump: With your instructor, you leap into the open sky. After the thrilling free fall, the parachute opens, and you drift gently for 5–7 minutes.

  8. Landing: Touch down softly in the heart of the Namib Desert.

  9. Return: You’ll be taken back to your accommodation or free to leave if you came with your own transport.

The entire experience takes approximately 2 to 3 hours from start to finish.

Important Information Before You Jump

  • Camera Policy: You may use your own camera on the plane, but not during the jump for safety reasons.

  • Weight Limit: There’s a maximum weight of 100 kg (220 lbs) for all participants.

  • Clothing Advice: Comfortable clothes like shorts, leggings, or pants with a secure t-shirt are ideal. A jacket is advisable on cool or windy days. Wear secure shoes—no flip-flops or sandals.

  • Age Restrictions: There’s no strict age limit, but participants must fit safely into the harness system. Those under 18 need written parental consent.

  • Companions Welcome: A friend or family member can join you on the flight even if they’re not jumping, but this must be arranged in advance.

Not Jumping? The View is Still Worth It

  1. If skydiving isn’t for you, you can still enjoy the short scenic flight over one of the world’s most iconic landscapes. The aerial views of the Namib Desert's red dunes, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Swakopmund coastline make it an experience worth sharing—whether you jump or not.

Skydiving in Swakopmund isn’t just about the adrenaline. It’s about seeing Namibia from a whole new perspective and making memories that will last forever. Whether you're ticking off a bucket list goal or simply seeking a new adventure, this is one experience you’ll never forget.
